Educate people with training, during meetings and passing information to be aware that when the guests rights may be infringed by someone else, there may be physical, communication or emotional barriers. If I am in the situation that I need to support a guest to maintain a right to control, choice or independence, I will advise if they need an advocate and help them to contact one if necessary. 6. The dad, who is now his only carer, as his Mum passed away, is not aware of what support, advice and services are available for his son. With the help of one of my Senior colleagues, we contacted the Council and find out that this guest’s Social Worker has been changed. We made an appointment and supported the Dad being in the meeting with him. Now the guest is accessing some classes in an Adult School and having two days during the week a carer, who takes him out.
